_Hello everyone hope you had a good Christmas.

Sorry for the lateness of this email, this week we will be meeting at 6pm on Tuesday in Boyd Orr 506. Our president will be putting on a workshop looking at the issues of being disabled in the developing world.

GCID are running a work shop in the 31st of January for anyone who is preparing for fieldwork, an overseas project  or has an interest in international development. This will run from 10am to 1pm, see attached file for details.

On to other business there are three competitions that you may be interested in. firstly Arup's resilient Cities competition, this competition is for university students  to study part of their city and decide whether it is resistant to shocks (flooding drought etc), four people will get summer placements with Arup, for a better explanation see the link

Secondly is the Bosch Horizons award which encourages young people to consider the role that technology and engineering play in everyday life. With essay questions focusing on the Olympics and green technology, for further details see, http://www.bosch.co.uk/technologyhorizons/

Finally is the Tattarillo International Award this is open to Dissertations / Thesis’s and final year projects that looked in to appropriate technology three main prizes of £1000 are up for grabs.
